The Tuki concept emerged during the implementation of the Integrated Hills Development Project (IHDP) in Sindhupalchok and Dolakha funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). IHDP had provided 15 days of training to the community people and developed Community Development Volunteers/Community Agriculture Leaders. In the meantime, Community Development Volunteers/Community Agriculture Leaders started symbolizing Tuki as a hope of light that could elevate rural and poor communities’ socio-economic and moral status. However, Tuki concept was formally originated on Bhadra 18, 2034. After one and half decade of exercising the Tuki concept, Tuki Association Sunkoshi was legally established in 2049 A.D. with the involvement of Tuki members who were living in 30 VDCs of eastern parts of Sindhupalchok.
